Farmer’s Matsumoto-san smoked black tea is the first of its kind in Japan. It is also the first tea in the world to be smoked using wood from aged whisky barrels. Matsumoto-san only uses barrels from the Ichiro Japanese whiskey distillery to extract the flavors. This method of preparation produces a pleasant smoky aroma enriched with oak and fruity notes. The tea has a naturally sweet and non-bitter black tea taste and leaves a light smoky mouthfeel. This new Japanese tea has attracted a lot of interest and was awarded a silver medal at the 2014 International Tea Tasting Competition.
